What this is
The counts Sophia doesn't publish in one place: exact challenges, touchstones, and milestones for every course, pulled from course structures and the public catalog, kept current. Built because the Reddit difficulty lists go stale every few months.
What the words mean
Challenge — a short multiple-choice quiz inside a unit. Milestone — a unit exam. Touchstone — a written or project assignment (the part you can't speed through). Knowledge check — short written responses, currently only in Environmental Science. Labs use lessons and activities instead, and have no exams.
Where the hours come from
You. Every hours figure is the median of community reports for that course, with n shown so you can judge it. Figures with fewer than 3 reports are shown faded. Report yours with the button above — it takes 30 seconds and is anonymous.
Accuracy
Counts describe the current version of each course as listed in Sophia's catalog. Sophia revises courses; if you enrolled a while ago your dashboard may differ. Assignment counts are structure, not effort — a course with 8 assignments can be slower than one with 20 if three of them are essays. That's what the hours column is for.
